What to know about the FAFSA

Students can now complete the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at studentaid.gov.

  • Prepare to file the FAFSA.
    • Have your FSA ID ready.
    • Use GCSU’s federal school code – 001602, when you file.

Don’t forget! GCSU students need to complete their FAFSA every year to apply for or remain eligible for most types of aid, including grants, need-based scholarships, Federal Work-Study, the HOPE scholarship, loans, and more.

Next Steps

At the time of initial review, if a file is considered complete and all information is accurate, Georgia College will evaluate your eligibility based on general requirements and specific program requirements and offer a financial aid package designed to best meet your needs.

FAFSA Corrections

What does my status mean?

  • In Review: Your FAFSA has been submitted, but has not yet been processed by Federal Student Aid (FSA).
  • Action Required: Your FAFSA has been processed, but you are missing your consent and approval or signature. FSA anticipates that you will be able to login and make any updates or changes to your FAFSA in late March or early April. You will receive an email notification when this happens.
  • Processed: Your application has been processed successfully and no further action is needed. GCSU will receive your processed FAFSA later this spring.
